Examinations

The course instructors will inform students of examination modalities at the beginning of their courses. You can find details about your specific course in its respective Moodle. Most exams will take place at the end of the semester, but depending on the type of course, different types of performance assessments may be carried out throughout the course of the Semester.

You are automatically registered for the first regular examination date.

Repeat examination

Students may repeat comprehensive examinations of courses that have been negatively assessed twice.

Repeat examination dates are predetermined and may not be changed. Registration for repeat exams is automatic, provided that you were registered for the course in the respective semester. Alternative dates are available in some cases. Justification (eg, medical certificate) for non-attendance must be provided to the StudyServiceCenter promptly.

If a positive assessment cannot be achieved within the semester following the course, then the course will be negatively assessed and must be repeated.

Repeat examination dates will be set by the respective course instructors and the StudyServiceCenter and communicated to the students at least two weeks before the test dates. The dates may also be within course-free times.

Failure to attend an examination, including the failure to hand in a Seminar Paper or Term Paper, will result in the loss of the ability to take the examination or submit the relevant paper. The grade “Not Sufficient” will be entered in the performance overview in A5.

A second submission deadline will be set for negatively assessed or unsuccessful seminar papers or assignments. It is up to the discretion of the course instructor to set further submission deadlines. The first submission deadline may not fall after the semester following the one in which the course took place. The grace period must be, at the latest, a month before the end of the semester following the course.

Permissible aids

For questions related to the types of aids or materials, such as “What aids are allowed in the exam” and “Is there a material limitation,” please contact your course instructor directly. You will find all of your instructors’ Email Addresses in your A5 account under the category “Search Professors.”

Be sure to know the time and location of your exams in advance, and arrive to the exam location on time—ideally approximately 10 minutes before the beginning of the exam. If you arrive too late, the exam supervisor may exclude you from taking the exam. Additionally, late arrival may disturb your colleagues as they take the exam.

Exam inspection

You may inspect your exams during the StudyServiceCenter open hours.
